Spin Machine Predictions & General Impeachment Commentary
By Steve Scroggins
Now that the acquittal is done, look for a change in the spin as Clinton defenders attempt to revise history. "What he did was reprehensible, but to remove would not be sensible." This will now change to "President Clinton is due an apology…he was the victim of a partisan witch hunt...it was those nasty, partisan Republicans in the House who deserve condemnation." Maybe we should proceed directly to "Long live the king!" This does not rise to the level....yada-yada (this was another favorite). Sorry, it did rise to the level and Clinton WAS impeached. Don't look for any kind of censure or condemnation or "naughty boy!" resolutions---Clinton won't sign anything and those were always meaningless and unconstitutional options anyway. This is about a private sexual matter. WRONG! Everything done in the White House that's not in the living quarters is a public matter. Look for defendants in sexual harassment lawsuits to use the Clinton case as precedent. Random Thoughts... I suspect that Clinton had dirt on at least a dozen Senators if not more. Those 900 FBI files probably came in handy during this trial. It was a foregone conclusion that there simply weren't ever 67 votes to remove in the Senate. On December 19th, I was satisfied that Clinton was asterisked in history as a corrupt President. I'm convinced that his wrongdoings will continue to come to light and he'll be known as one of the most corrupt if not THE most corrupt president in history. This entire fiasco has served to illustrate that American prosperity and economic success is NOT dependent on government. If the Congress would only take another year off, there's no telling how far the economy could go. Watch for retribution against those who brought the charges and or failed to support Clinton. The White House denies that that's their plan or even a sensible strategy, but we know from observation that Clinton is a vindictive man. Payback is a foregone conclusion. Whether it's targeting certain representative's districts with campaign money for opponents or killing pork projects, it will happen. This case documents that Clinton is an exploiter of people and especially women. Flowers, Jones, Lewinski and a long list of Jane Does are well documented. It may come to light that Clinton is even a rapist (a la Juanita Broaddrick). It's very dangerous to have a man like that in such a position of power. He's capable of hurting people and he's convinced that he can and will get away with it. It's sad to observe that 100 Senators took an oath to objectively weigh the evidence and render an impartial decision. It was known (conventional wisdom) from the beginning that at least 45 Democratic Senators would vote to acquit regardless of the evidence. The rule of law is definitely undermined by this---it's apparent that some people in the right circumstances are, in fact, above the law. Perhaps it's not permanent but this is definitely a step in the wrong direction for our representative republic. As scandals continue to emerge, let's hope that at least part of the Clinton stain can be removed and that integrity can be restored to the White House. Speaking of stains, I wonder if Monica will get the dress back. Or will it end up in some museum with a spot light shining on the famous stain. Will some geneticist try to clone Clinton from that DNA 100 years from now? I can hear him now..."I want to build a bridge to the 22nd century..." Of course, if we stay on the current course of apathy and ignorance of government, as illustrated by recent presidential job approval ratings, we may not have to worry about elections in the future. |
